Corazon, Paris IV - 2024
Corazon is a small private room designed for chef Mauro Colagreco. The counter, where mainly Japanese chefs work on raw fish, is like a sacrificial altar. Mauro asked that the room be both elegant and rustic, and that it remind him of his native Argentina.
Wall-mounted candleholders designed for the project cast a soft glow over large wall ornaments inspired by the Unitum motif of the ancient Amerindian peoples.
An old Amerindian myth tells us that the Unitum motif (the little zigzag shape) comes from the design of the Pleiades constellation. The story goes that young girls were fleeing their violent father. They went up a long river. They went so far that they came up against the sky. They decided to climb into the dark night and became the stars of the Pleiades constellation.
The solid oak furniture (tables and chairs), designed for the project, was made from beams and floorboards removed from the site. The logo has been hand-painted in India ink on tiles that have been made for the project.
